Monday- Finish documentary; take quiz if you were out Friday. Those who took it.... inexplicably, many of you failed. What I saw was that those of you who failed did not take the notes assigned or took them partially. This should have been an easy "A". Those whose notes were complete almost all made A's. As a recovery opportunity, you may come in and get your quiz once everyone has taken it, then complete the notes and correct your missed answers for 1/2 credit. Group discussion of essential questions. Apostrophe review. Tuesday: SB- "How the Media Twist the News" p. 266 / discussion questions HW: Vocab.com due tomorrow; quiz tomorrow in class. Wednesday: Lab #307 for vocabulary quiz; Zinc article, explore Fox News and MSNBC. Take notes on any indicators of bias you see for a discussion tomorrow. Find 5 and record them. These are considered two of the more biased news organizations by many, Fox to the right and MSNBC to the left, so bias shouldn't be that hard to come by. You may even use editorial content if you need to, but note that in your recording of bias. Thursday: Media Bias articles attached below. Friday: "Why Partisans View Mainstream Media as Biased and Ideological Media as Objective" p. 268 / group discussion. Discuss your notes from yesterday's news exploration. Notes p. 273: rhetorical slanter definitions; grammar mini-lesson: Hyphens. In pairs or small groups (you may work alone if you wish), Fill out the charts on p. 274-275.
